Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Ahoy iOS app (“Ahoy”, “the app”) handles information. It is written to be honest and specific: Ahoy is a fully offline reference app that works without an account. The only personal data we collect is what you provide if you choose to create an optional account.
The data controller is Krzysztof Przekwas (Poland). For any question about this policy, contact przekwaskrzysiek@gmail.com.
Data we collect
All app content is bundled in the app and works without an internet connection, so your everyday use of Ahoy is not sent anywhere. Ahoy has no ads and no analytics.
Ahoy is fully usable without an account. If you choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google, we collect and store:
- your name (as provided by Apple or Google; you can edit or clear it);
- your email address;
- an account identifier used to recognise you when you sign in.
We use this only to provide and identify your account when you sign in. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell or share it.
Who processes this data
Accounts are handled for us by Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), acting as our data processor. Your account data is stored on Firebase’s infrastructure. Sign-in is provided by Apple and Google depending on which you choose. See Firebase’s privacy information for details.
No tracking or analytics
Ahoy contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking technologies, and no third-party SDKs that profile you. We do not use cookies or advertising identifiers, and we do not build a profile of you or your activity.
Preferences stored on your device
Settings you choose — language, appearance, buoyage region, and whether you opted in to a future-features notification — are saved only in local storage on your device. They never leave the device and are removed when you delete the app.
Notifications
Ahoy can ask permission to send you a single notification when its upcoming education features launch. This is entirely optional, you can decline or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings, and opting in does not transmit any personal data to us.
Feedback you send us
If you use the “Send feedback” option, your device’s email app opens a message addressed to us. If you choose to send it, we receive whatever you write (and your email address) solely to read and respond to your feedback. Sending feedback is always your choice.
Children
Ahoy is rated for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, under Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your name, email, and account identifier from our systems. You can also simply sign out, or use the app without an account at all.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you have an account, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You can delete it yourself in the app (see above), or contact us at the email above for any of these requests. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you use Ahoy without an account, we hold no personal data about you beyond any feedback you email us.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the “last updated” date above before the change takes effect.
